A Study on the Need for Professional Training in the Age-friendly Industry

Abstract
Objective : This research aims to examine the need and demand for professional training in the age-friendly industry through a survey on businesses in the age-friendly industry.

Methods : The survey was conducted on 112 businesses in the age-friendly industry, such as medical care institutions, recuperation centers, associations, manufacturers and seller of medical equipment, and manufacturers and sellers of welfare medical devices.

Results : For professional training in the age-friendly industry, 100% of all respondents said they were interested. 84 respondents (75%) replied that the age-friendly industry was strongly necessary. 42 respondents (38%) replied that the current technology level in the age-friendly industry was insufficient, and 31 respondents (28.0%) replied that the purpose of professional training in the age-friendly industry was to have more skilled manpower. Finally, for areas and fields needed in the age-friendly industry, 92 people (82.5%) replied age-friendly goods, 67 people (60.0%) medical equipment in the age-friendly industry, and 44 people (40.0%) recuperation industry.

Conclusion : The research result showed that there were high interest and demand for professional training in the age-friendly industry. Based on this interest and demand for such industry, universities and professional training institutions should be established to train and educate professionals in the age-friendly industry. Furthermore, an institutional foundation and opportunities for professional training in the age-friendly industry should be arranged by education, seminar, and special lectures, through academic societies and institutions.
